Breast Cancer

Today, we had an orientation on breast and pelvic exams to prepare us for our clinical skills sessions next week. It was a very helpful and interesting session. This doodle is of a demonstration model that we used to learn the different types of pathologies that could be found in breast tissue and the different depths that they occur. The most important part that I have learned both during my clinical practice and during the session is for women to know and to be comfortable with their own body. The topic of self-breast exams is controversial and I have heard many different opinions, but a main point is for women to be familiar with their body so that they can notice any changes.
