Bone Modelling Unit

Three of my favorite cells in the body: osteoblasts, osteocytes and osteoclasts. This trio of cells play a key role in bone modeling and remodeling. Your bones are dynamic structures in your body. They are constantly changing, adapting to stress, making red and white blood cells and much more! The osteoblast, the cell on the far left who is stacking building blocks, is responsible for bone formation. The osteoclast, the middle cell with the giant shovel and somewhat looks like the Japanese character, DOMO, is responsible for bone resorption. The osteocyte, the cell on the far right with a stack of paper, is responsible for bone maintenance.
